Discover Peace. Experience Happiness. Live with Purpose.
Located in Garland, Texas, MIBC is a sanctuary for those seeking lasting peace and true happiness through the timeless teachings of the Buddha. Since 2017, formerly known as the Brahma Vihara Monastery, we have served as a dedicated space for meditation, learning, and spiritual growth.
We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt religious organization open to everyone. We welcome all visitors with love, kindness, and tolerance, regardless of gender, color, race, creed, religion or nationality.
Our mission is defined by two simple yet profound pillars:
Saadhana (Personal Practice): Developing one’s own inner potential to experience the profound peace taught by the Buddha.
Seva (Compassion in Action): Extending that peace outward through humanitarian services and selfless action for all beings
MIBC is proud to be an international branch of the Maha Bodhi Society, Bengaluru, established in 1956 by the Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita.
For decades, the Society has focused on putting Dhamma into practice through:
Sila (Moral Upliftment): Living a life of integrity and virtue.
Samadhi (Mental Purity): Cultivating a calm and focused mind through meditation.
Panya (Deeper Wisdom): Understanding the true nature of life to achieve liberation.
"Visiting the Mahabodhi International Buddhist Center has been a life-changing experience for me. Attending the Monthly Dhamma Talk provides a rare sense of mental clarity that helps me navigate my daily decisions with much more peace and wisdom. I am truly grateful for the guidance of the Bhantes and the warm, inclusive community that welcomes everyone regardless of their background." — Mr Sunil Kumar

We are honoured to have three resident monks who provide guidance and Dhamma teachings to practitioners globally:
Ven. Rathmale Sumedha Thera (President), Ven. Nyanarakkhita, Ven. Ariyasiri.
Venerable Rathmale Sumedha Thero is a profound scholar of the Suttas and a dedicated practitioner who provides a practical, direct guide to the Buddha’s teachings. Known for his deep commitment to silent meditation and solitary practice, Bhanteji brings an authentic, disciplined presence to MIBC.
As a teacher, Bhanteji is known for being straightforward and precise, speaking directly to the heart of the Dhamma without distraction. His teachings are ideal for those seeking a serious and transformative spiritual path.
Specializations: He offers profound insights into the Four Noble Truths and provides clear, step-by-step guidance on Mindfulness Meditation.
Weekly Dhamma Talks: Join Bhanteji every Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM for an in-depth exploration of the Buddha’s word.
Venerable Nyanarakkhita is a young, dynamic Dhamma teacher who brings a fresh and relatable energy to the MIBC community. Trained from a young age under the world-renowned Buddhist Master, Most Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita, Bhanteji carries a deep lineage of wisdom while specializing in Vipassana (Insight) Meditation.
Often affectionately called the "Teacher of Gen-Z," Bhanteji has a unique gift for making the Dhamma accessible to the younger generation. His teaching style is characterized by simplicity, warmth, and a wonderful sense of humor that makes complex teachings easy to understand and apply to modern life.
Youth Leadership: His Sunday Dhamma classes for children are a highlight of our center, where his engaging approach has made him a favorite among students and parents alike.
